How to connect CorekChat to your other systems

CorekChat can talk to your restaurant's other software: your invoicing system, your accounting, a sales dashboard or your online store. There are two ways to connect them, and they're almost always used together.

#The two pieces: the API and webhooks

  • The API lets another system ask: "give me today's orders", "which products are available", "what reservations are there for Friday". It's read-only: no external system can change your menu, your orders or your reservations.
  • Webhooks do the opposite: CorekChat notifies your system the moment something happens. An order came in, its status changed, a reservation was cancelled, a table was closed.

The most common way to use them is together: the webhook says "order number such and such came in", and your system uses the API to ask for that order's details.

#What you need

  1. For your plan to include it. The API and webhooks come with the Enterprise plan, and on any paid plan they can be added with the «API y Webhooks» (API and Webhooks) add-on, from «Configuraciones → Plan y consumo» (Settings → Plan and usage). Without it, the API and Webhooks sections tell you so instead of showing the form.
  2. Permission to set it up. On your team, whoever has the API keys and webhooks permissions (in «Roles», under the System section). Usually it's whoever manages the account.
  3. Someone to program the connection on the other side. CorekChat delivers the data; the program that receives it is built by your developer or the provider of your other system. The guides in this section are written so you can hand them over as they are.

#What data goes out and what doesn't

The API and webhooks deliver what's needed to integrate: orders with their products and totals, the menu, reservations and the status of tables. They don't deliver conversations, your customers' phone numbers or payment data. Webhook notifications carry the minimum — the order or reservation number and what changed — and the details are requested through the API with a key you control.

#Where to go next

If an integration stops working, the first thing to check is the Webhooks section: it has the history of every notification, with what your system replied. If you can't find the cause, ask Nero or write to us.
