title: How dining room tables, tickets and the kitchen are handled

If you serve tables in addition to delivery, CorekChat has a module for the
dining room. It's added separately from the plan, and it brings everything below
together: you don't have to buy the pieces one by one.

## Tickets

A ticket is a table's order that goes to the kitchen. In CorekChat the ticket is
taken by the server from the point of sale, or sent by the diner from their own
phone with the QR menu, and in both cases it reaches the kitchen without anyone
walking it over or shouting it out.

The kitchen sees it on a **screen** — the kitchen display — together with
WhatsApp orders and orders from your website chat, in the order they came in.
That's where it's marked when preparation starts and when it's ready. Each card
shows how long ago it came in: the clock turns red when the order goes past the
promised time.

(Captura del sistema, sólo para clientes: The kitchen display: three columns — Pending, Preparing and Ready — with one card per order, its dishes and how long it has been waiting)

**About printing tickets, said plainly:** printers and routing each ticket to
its station — the bar gets bar items, the kitchen gets kitchen items — can
already be configured in the system, but for the ticket to come out of a
thermal printer you need a small program on the restaurant's computer that
**we're still finishing**. In the meantime, the kitchen works from the screen,
and the point of sale warns you with a yellow strip («Esta computadora no puede
imprimir» — This computer can't print) so nobody waits for a slip that won't
come out. If printing is essential to your operation, ask us about the date
before you buy a printer.

## The point of sale

It's the panel your team uses to serve the dining room: open the table, take the
order, add dishes as the table keeps ordering, and close the bill.

(Captura del sistema, sólo para clientes: The point of sale: one card per table with its status, how long it has been occupied and what it has consumed)

Tapping a table opens its details: how many diners there are, who's serving it,
what's been ordered, order by order, and the buttons to «Agregar pedido» (Add
order), «Pedir cuenta» (Request bill) and «Cerrar mesa» (Close table).

(Captura del sistema, sólo para clientes: The details of an occupied table: diners, server, time, consumption and the buttons to add an order, request the bill and close the table)

When closing the table, the system asks about the **tip**: it offers percentages
with their amount already calculated, or "No tip". Nothing is selected in
advance, because the tip is voluntary and has to be asked. If the diner already
left it from their phone, it shows up there so it isn't overwritten.

Tables are drawn on a floor plan just like your restaurant really is — floors,
zones, and the architect's plan in the background if you have it — so you can
see at a glance which one is free, which is occupied and which asked for the
bill.

(Captura del sistema, sólo para clientes: The dining room plan: two colored zones, the tables in place and the occupied table highlighted)

Tables are created and edited with the «Mesas» (Tables) button in the point of
sale header: name, capacity, floor and zone.

## The QR menu

Each table has a code to stick on it. The diner scans it with their phone and
sees the menu with photos, descriptions and prices, without installing anything
or creating an account. Whatever you mark as sold out disappears instantly.

From there they can put together their order and send it, follow its progress
while it's being prepared, call the server and ask for the bill. At a table of
six, all six can order from their phones and the bill is still just one.

You decide whether an order that comes in from the menu goes straight to the
kitchen or whether someone on your team reviews and approves it first. And
ordering is only possible while the table is open: nobody can send food to your
kitchen from the street.

## What you need

The point of sale module, which you can add on top of any plan, and your
restaurant's tables loaded into the system. The kitchen display can be any
tablet or computer with a browser.

If you only do delivery, you don't need it: the agent takes orders on WhatsApp
and on your website with the plan alone.
